Forms allow visitors to fill out fields and then submit that information to the web site. The filled out form then can be a part of some procesing like a purchase online, or be sent in an e-mail to a designated recipiant.
You can have a forms on your website to have people join an e-mail newsletter, to submit questions and comments to you, to tell you what they want to find (a search), to tell what they want to buy and how they are paying for it. Just a few of the many uses of forms.
